Summary:

The martime industry represents a safe and environmental mode of goods transportation... however the industry still exerts significative environmental impacts (oily water, greenhouse gases, cargo residues, etc.). The St. Lawrence and Great Lakes marine industry have decided voluntarily to join forces and create Green Marine a coalition of 9 associations to address six environmental issues. The coordinator of this initiative David Bolduc provides us with an overview of the development of Green Marine's Environmental Policy industry as well as present upcoming projects.

Biography:

David Bolduc holds a bachelor in International Studies from York University (Toronto) and a Master's in International Relations from Laval University (Québec). After having worked for many years as a researcher and political advisor in Quebec and Ottawa, he joined the St. Lawrence Economic Development Council in 2005 as the Economic and Environmental Coordinator. As of January 2008, Mr. Bolduc is also the coordinator of Green Marine, a grouping of nine associations belonging to the maritime industry along the St.Lawrence-Great Lakes region. As the coordinator, he manages and implements this voluntary environmental initiatitve.
